Default A few boost questions

Just brought and sti2 and i was wondering what the standard boost level is and what i can rise it to ?

Also it has an exhust system on it and it goes right to the down pipe does that mean the cat has been taken of ? and does an exhust and air filter make the boost rise slightly anyway?

Where is the best place to get insurance from im 21 and have 3 years ncbs

Thankyou jamie Madden

can't help with your exhaust but Direct Line and Tesco seem to be amongst the cheaper insurers- don't know about specialist insurers.

I had an Apexi N1 spec system, the backbox basically was straight through with a tiny center box and straight up to the downpipe.

The center decat sounds like its gone, the downpipe may have been done - usually people stay away as it can cost £250 ish just for the pipe and can be involved to do.

The center decat makes a difference but the d/p will make a much more noticable sound - re the turbo spool and general whine.

Confirm what you have if you don't have the d/p decat - pickup on up used for £150 - £200 maybe.

Jap STi, 1 bar to 1.1 bar safe IMO. Make sure you run optimax with octane booster if still on jap ECU... or say hello to DET and a new block.

Pickup a KnockLink if you can.

Good luck.

I have an Sti v3, 1996 facelift, but ran 1.3 bar max on Optimax no trouble with full 3'' decat.
I think the Stiv2 is very similar engine.

Add booster to feel safer.

Graham.

Ensure you have a good quality boost gauge as they can vary between them.
