Default Remote mounting of Idle Control Valve on a 98 WRX?

I have an STI8 IC that I am about to fit to my MY98 WRX and having followed 911's thread thouroughly I am thinking that I could mount the idle control valve out of the way instead of cutting/modifying the IC.

911's thread here http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=390094

I am thinking about fabricating a bracket that will hold the ICV between the 2 branches of the inlet manifold on the passenger side. I will have to make a couple of flanges with outlets for the hole left in the manifold and the ICV and then bridge the 2 with a suitable pipe.

Anyone see any potential problems?

I just dont want to cut into my lovely new IC and have been thinking that I could reduce the flow potential on the unit.

Cheers,

Wayne.

Shouldn't be a problem if done well. Have you taken off the ISCV tho.... it has a little 'plunger' that fits snuggly into the inlet manifold. You will have to get this just right to have any chance of it working (sealing on boost).

Micky, no problem mate. I was thinking of making a couple anyway.

So the plunger thingy? I would imagine that positive pressure pushes on the plunger and closes off the idle control valve?

The plunger thingy is a check valve to stop air blow out of the manifold under boost. I wouldn't mess with it unless you have a well equiped machine and welding shop.
