engine.......

Surely a short engine will use "your" heads. P1 headers? if you mean the standard ones then port them.

Depends what you eman "stronger". The engine is only as strong as the weaker link in the chain. If you are fearing the headers blowing, then yes, you will have a stronger setup. Knowing the reliability of tuned STis, I'd be really amazed if the stock STi headers aren't bombproof. I personally have never heard of a broken header.
Personally, I'd say leave the headers well alone. Theres a load more areas of the vehicle that can do with some cash being splashed over them before the headers become an issue

You could still over rev the engine & the valves will bend, possibly hitting the pistons though if you get used to changeing up at or around 6100, that would alleviate the head problem.

What i meant was basically that the P1 has a weak short engine and
and can it be replaced by a STi8+ short engine with little fuss...and would it be stronger than the original P1 short engine.......

aaaaaah. Now thats a different issue. The way you posted the thread, I thought you meant fitting a P1 header to a STi8 block!

No idea mate. Most likely they will fit, but I can't vouch for that. Having said that, why not get the whole STi8 block? or for that matter, why not get a reliable 2nd hand block off a 02' STi or a type-R ?

Yes they will fit and yes the STi8 short block has better crank, mains and big ends but weaker pistons.

It will be a better engine due to the STi 9 crank giving better oil flow. It wont really be "stronger" if the shells, rods and pistons (P1 pistons) are standard. If your putting it together yourself you'd be wise to upgrade the bearings and rods for stronger items.
