Not a hard Job tbh, same as always.. take your time and make sure all the plugs etc under the manifold are disconnected as you lift it off.

As Rob correctly says, slow and sure.
I find (having done it all of 3 times) that the plugs just behind the alternator are the worst to get at as you wrestle it off.
Putting it back on isn't too 'drop it on' either with pipes everywhere, and it is very easy to dislodge the gaskets to the heads despite the location pins as the tabs can buckle (mine did) and it is not easy to see/check all is well.

An hour to get it off (and 30 mins to fit the samco inlet Sticky ) and about 1 1/2 to 2 to get it all back down and running again.

A glass of cold Leffe beer helps at times too but that takes a bit of time too!

im thinking ill whip the inlet off and cut/tube/clip the samco to stop it collapseing and whip it back on

possible to reuse the inlet gasket or will it destroy when i remove it?
anything else i should be replaceing while its off?

 

My gaskets came off ok. Everything else is just pipes pipes pipes everywhere

You could always do the 'parallel fuel supply' thing.....incase you are bored!

Nope, common sense thing to do (that's why i never thought to do it until AndyF said so...)

the gaskets can be ok, but then they can be buggered.

fuel mod is good idea, i would do the catch can while your at it too.

 

Is there any 'schematic' of the parallel fuel rail mod anywhere? Ive seen the one in scoobymods but its a bit confusing as its all pics rather than a general goal plan. Interested in doing this mod

 

I drew a simple layout in my Project thread if you want to do a bit of searching, about 5 pages in i guess.
Once you get into the Subaru circuit it is easy to see what is to be cut.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, just been researching this as was planning on upgrading my fuel system for future use while the inlet manifold is off (replacing the induction hose as split the OEM one) and thought adding a link may be useful for others in the future.

Inlet manifold gaskets for a UK MY00 impreza are subaru part number 14035AA421 and are £5.24 +VAT each if you need them.
