Hi all,

i have got a V3 STI (MY97), which i believe has been leaking gearbox oil for a few months now but very very slowly. The other morning when i got up it had leaked the whole lot all over the drive. The reason i say it was leaking slowly before is i could smell an oil burning smell when the car was warm, but never found the source of the smell.

Is this a common problem?? could it be a gasket or more likely a crack?? I have not yet managed to get under the car yet but can see the leak is comming from the centre diff. area.

could be that part of the casing, as it splits off the back before the casing spilts inhalf.
there are 2 switches there and so could be leaking from them. or the prop ??

there are so many spots it could leak u would have to look..

the case splits into all together like 4 parts, so any of those seams, the tail shaft, input shaft, the drain plug, the 2 plugs on teh side for the chick *****, the 2 switchs in teh rear fr neutral and reverse lol

looks like i better get under there. Will it be ok to drive it 2 / 3 meters up a ramp without any gearbox oil or would i do damage????
