Exclamation Has this ever happend to you

This has happened to me 3 times now....

If for any reason i have to put my foot down for a brief few seconds at the lights when the car is cold, it judders and i don't get any acceleration. At first I ignored it and thought it was one of those things but then it happened twice after that.

I don’t really feel like going out and trying for a 4th time, as you are not spouse to rev high when the car is cold..

I am getting little concerned, as this may also be related to my knocking I get when the car is started from cold.

I have a MY98, moded to over 300bhp, also have a FC commander.

Any help appreciated….as I have now started loosing sleep over it.

Acceleration enrichment or water temperature enrichment setting I would guess.
If it has been mapped to retain decent economy then it may be a bit too lean when it's cold.
Any misfiring will also show as knock on your commander handset.

plus it is not wise to rev it high until fully warm!

could be a dodgey map or more likely boost is limited when cold to stop f***ing the engine, just keep it below 3,000 rpm

Apexi PFC doesn't limit the boost when cold. If RC have mapped it then could well be a 'less than ideal' map.... i thought you were getting Andy to map it tho Sam???? Did you manage to get to him, if so i wouldn't expect the map to be at fault. Was this mapped with Hybrid/injectors etc in place?

Tony.

Unhappy

Okay...

I started my car this morning and there was a cloud of white smoke...my brother followed me to work today, and when I accelerated there was black smoke

Can someone please help me...

My symptoms I have noticed are:

1) Car knocking on cold
2) Juddering and no acceleration when I accelerate from cold - only tried this 3 times
2) White Smoke when started
3) Black smoke when accelerating

Tony, Sams car was originally mapped by RC. I then remapped it when it was still on the TD04/tmic.
After the TD05 / Hybrid / injectors etc were fitted recently, it was remapped by Pavlo.

White smoke could just be because it's cold.... what did it smell like. Black smoke could be running rich, which leads to a map issue (mine does blow out the old carbon deposits while acclerating it i've not booted it for a while). May even be running so rich while cold so that's why it stutters????

So can we clarify who mapped the car and when (i.e were all the parts listed in the spec on the car when it was mapped?).

Tony.

Ahh... that answers the map question. Don't think that's your problem.

Tony,

Yes all the parts above were on the car when mapped by Pavlo, though that was now i think over a month ago...

I don't know what to do....thinking of poping to XtremeScoobies and see if the find anything wrong, though i just can afford to be having car problem after i have spent so much on it..

Paul will be able to check it out against his data logs and will know instantly if anything has changed.

LOL... fan of xtreme then. You've got a mondeo Rob .

I'd definately get Paul to check it out... you've not been playing with the commander have you Sam .

Stutter while cold could well be something as simply as dodgy plug leads getting moisture in them. Wouldn't worry too soo.

Lol, i wouldnt say i had anything against them.. more that i have fixed 4 cars in the last two weeks that had been to xtreme, including a call on sunday from someone pretty close to engine failure who hadnt slept the night before. The comment about pat was along the lines of.. Pat has the ability to check ecu probs, i'm not so sure about the guys at XS to do that

Does anyone think something may actaully be wrong with my car...or simply a map change tweak should fix it?

When the injectors were chaned by Paul, there was loads and loads of white smoke...though as soon as he mapped ti all dispeared... Not sure if this means anything...

Am i not wrong in thinking white smoke usually has something to do with oil...turbo seals etc..?

White smoke is generally water, you did say that you have had this problem before though sam, way back before i fitted the TD05.
