Default JUST DONE HPi CHECK !!

I just done a HPi check on MY97 only to find out that it is a MY98...

i know i should have looked when i bought it but i just thought it was a My97 ..

My question is does this make a difference to the ecu upgrade ?? can i get a MY98 re mapped ... or is it still the same ?

thanks

MY97/98 both run the same type of ECU and the OE ECU cant be remapped easily unlike the MY99 for example.

Is there anything you can do to these ECU's other than bin them in favor of an expensive PowerFC/GEMS/Link/Motec system??

......and rather than trying to find a PPP ECU for sale privately.

Cheers,
Grant

I wouldn't rely on an HPI check to determine whether yours is a MY97 or 98. The easy way to tell is that MY98 has the updated interior with white dials, and MY97 has the older style with black dials.

Power Engineering in Uxbridge can remap the MY97/98 ECUs - works out a bit cheaper (but not much) than going for a PowerFC. The FC is cheaper to tweak if you change mods a lot, though.

Power Engineering use a piggyback chip as part of the remap process.
