Default How to fix 4th - 5th........

Gear crunch,

Hi guys, seen a heard people talking about a common problem on type-r/ra's with a loose bolt in the box.

Has anybody done this? and can it really be done in place??

Cheers

Jonah

I think the problem you are refering to effects all the phase2 (M99/00) gearboxes.

It's a nut on the end of a shaft. IIRC you can remove the centre diff on the car and get to it

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure what the symptoms are of this though

Lol, i would seriously not recomend doing this in situ... Big PITA!!

Same as Dyney says, nut is behind centre diff.

I had a similar problem with my v5 type r and it turned out to be the syncro. Try double clutching when shifting from 4th to 5th and see if that cures it. If it does its a good sign that the syncro is on the way out.

Sorry, only just seen it, thank you

Seriously thanks guys, is it quite straight forward with the box out? also mine is a MY95 does this probably mean its syncros as apposed to lose bolt?
