Hi,

My mate has just bought a Wrx from sonoe on this forum, however when hit 5k in 4th it cuts out for a seco0nd and then cuts back in. we have tried all other gears and it will kit 7k no problems ony does it in 4th.

We have tried to reset the ecu.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

You are hitting the fuel cut due to over boost.
Make sure the coil packs are in good nic.
MAke sure the spark plugs in good nic and suiatably gapped.
Check the boost solenoid plumbing for cracks or splits.
Try cleaning the boost solenoid with brake cleaner.
Check that the vehicle is not overfilled with oil.

Does the vehicle have modified ecu? If so you i would suspect that and fit a MBC to fix the problem. £30

A quote from scott t on a previous simular thread:

"Check bottom hose from boost control solenoid. the one that returns to the main air intake expansion box.
There should be a brass restrictor inside, with I think a 1.25mm bore.

Alot of Jap cars come in with these removed, as an attempt to achieve more boost. Some get away with it, but a decat normally highlights the problem due to the quicker spool-up."

Hi,

The car is Std apart from a TSL back box.
Coil packs have been changed recently and the old ones have been given as they are still servieable. Pipes on boost control solinoid arr seem ok. the oil is spot on and i am not sure about the Plugs, i will be fitting some platinum ones for him. need to find out what the gap should be first though.

I will check for the Brass restrictor when he gets home from work.

Thanks
