I am considering changing my gearbox oil myself as its needs doing and I dont have time to drive to essex at the moment.
Is this a fairly easy procedure? drop the oil and refill through dip stick. How much oil will I need? Any tips....ta very much

Yes, should be no problem.
A few tips:-
1. Make sure vehicle is warm, only drop oil after a 15 minute run
2. Drop oil into a clean container - its always worth checking the dirty oil for signs of metal etc.
3. Wipe the end of the drain plug, this will have a grey paste coating as it is magnetised
4. Use castrol syntrax (etc) 75-90 grade
5. Put together a funnel with a length of tube to refil so you dont spill oil down the side of the turbo or through the intercooler when refilling!!!
6. Slightly overfill (make sure you are on a flat surface) by 3mm above the Maximum - this is done to protect 3rd gear and ensures an oil coating at all times
7. Dispose of waste oil at local designated refuse site!

what SuperFlyGuy said.. although the Syntrax bottles are no too difficult to fill it up without spillage.
You probably should do the rear diff at the same time too.. undo the drain and the filler and fill to the bottom of the filler hole.. about 0.8l.

I reused mine.. just clean the paste off the plugs as they are magnetic and collect any metal fragments in the oil.. if you find gear teeth on them then panic.

yep..
4litres for the gearbox and 1 litre for the rear diff.. 5litres total is what I did iirc correctly.. must be time I changed mine again now thinking about it.

not at all.. the bottles have a nozzle that pulls out on them.. thought I had a picture sadly but not with nozzle showing (oooerrr)
this makes filling diff and gearbox through the dipstick easy
