Red face 166 mph!

hi m8,

i have a sti v8 ra "a wee bit modded" and i was doing 166 mph (on the road angel) 175 mph on the clock, so my box must have long legs!

ps it will go faster, i ran out of road! "or should i say track"

cheers robin.

If your engine revs to 6500 then a gear will give a 'top speed'
If your (Sti) engine will pull 8400 in the same gear then obviously faster!

top speed (theoretical) is to do with the max rpm of an engine.

A UK box at 70 is quite relaxing, an RA box at 70 is the opposite...

I read on here somewhere that the UK STI's won't rev past 6250, or 6500 in sixth gear.

looks like the uk box might be best suited to me then cause the jdm box seams to be similar low gearing like my jdm 5 speed and i think i will be limited to 7000 rpm

having had both, the jdm box at 7000 rpm will do between 155 and 160 depending on tyre sizes. The uk will do 175ish at that rpm.

if you want track day stuff, go with the jdm, if you want an every day driver go with the UK box.
