Default Slight & brief pinking even on Optimax?

Driving hard though gears with only 5 deg ambient and full tank of Optimax, I am still getting a little light pinking breifly - is this acceptable - why doesnt knock sensor act more keenly (as it did when dealer ran it on 95! - engine went flat above 4500, virtually no boost)

Car is UK 03 STi Prodrive with 17k mls - I am sure Prodrive dont recommend Octane booster - is it necessary - would it help? - Dont really want to have to back off as it rather defeats the object..

Dealer ran on 95 for 3 weeks and I have only put 2 full tanks of Optimax through - surely this should be enough for all Prodrive settings to be restored? - Now performs out of all recognition compared to when I bought it (when testing, I told Dealer it was running totally flat above 4500 and asked re fuel - he said they only have convenient access to std 95 RON) - since I was buying it through a Main Dealer, I felt it reasonable to assume full power would be resumed when back on a normal diet, which it most certainly is - pulls hard from 2750 and barely eases before 6000 - just has a little light pinking along the way - will this clear with more Optimax hard driving? - Is it acceptable?

under consideration - however it would take some map to outperform present - considering moderate use of OB

Im no expert but consider this. The ppp map is based on how ever many thousand cars its fitted to in the UK. Each of these cars will have very slightly different characteristics. It will therefore be a safe map.
If you have your car re-mapped then the map is specific to your car and your engine.

As I say I'm no expert but this must in my mind be in some way true.

I have heard from quite a few PPP people the comment that the car is flat at around 4500-5000 revs.

My car is ECOtek mapped (safely) and doesnt stutter at all on its way the the red line

You car doesnt need octane booster, its made to run on 97-98ron without it.

Any harm using low dose - dont like idea of, albeit moderate, pinking.

Dont know enough about octane booster but if your using it then surely your converting your car into a 100/102 RON running vehicle and thats not what its mapped to run on.

It should clear. Dealer may have reset ECU before selling, who knows. Also, when you filled with optimax, how much 95 RON was in the tank?
