Induction cold air?
Have you thought about extending the piping from the induction kit to re-locate the cone in the inner wing? This guarantees nice cool air all of the time whereas the cone in the original position will draw warm air in at idle/ sat in traffic etc. I am planning ditching my original airbox and fitting a cone in the inner wing.
Phil , is putting the cone in the wing the accepted way of overcoming this problem or is it your own solution, i'd like a performance filter myself but was allways concerned about it taking warm air at low speed /in traffic

Thanks for the replies guys. My problem is my car being a '95 Sti and i am putting an HKS fmic on my car. The fmic takes the path using the airbox/resonator hole in the wing. There is not another hole as it is a jap model and my intercooler spray bottle sits forward next to the carbon canister. I am already putting a heat shield between the engine and induction kit (Apexi) and also feeding with a mini scoop. I need a small bore pipe to feed more air into the induction kit so i provide it with enough coldness (quality use of english language!)
Bought some 60mm diammeter aluminium ducting from the local motor spares shop to me. Bought 1 metre, and used it to feed up from the duct below the indicator (MY00 bumper) up through the inner wing to the filter. There will only be enough room to do this once the resonator box has been removed!
See Carl Davey's thread in Projects, as he has some great pics showing this mod on his car.

In relation to the cold air cone located in the inner wing, I have been told by John Banks that this will most likely upset the MAF readings. I was due to fabricate my own cold air induction pipe, like the ones available for the new age cars, but after hearing the pitfalls I have made a cold air box to surround induction kit instead.
Its a couple of easy to make aluminium panels cut and shaped to enclose the air filter with an air feed from the bumper.
Hope this helps.

Coulty, Sorry didnt know that the earlier cars were different! I have 2 holes in the inner wing, and my FMIC pipework goes through the one nearest the headlight, and the Cold Air Feed comes up through the other!

I might even get a hole cut in the wing so i can have a feed from the bumper
Thanks for the help
