I have a set of the version 2 Grouppe S headers via the excellent Group Buy.
I also now have my AndyF 20g TD05 and the flange on the Helix flexible up-pipe to the turbo is not totally flat.
At worse, it is 0.5 to 0.75 mm distorted. The flange is about 12mm thick so will not bend too easy, and I don't want to stress the turbo housing by pulling the joint together as it is.

I am thinking of machining the flange of the u/p flat to get things right.

Anyone else done this or has everyone simply bolted up things tight and have a gas tight joint?

Must admit that the way the flamge is distorted would put the gasket (new) under a very tight pressure just where you want it, around the port diameter.

Hi,

I have had terrible trouble trying to stop my headers leaking at up pipe joint, tried all sorts of gaskets, exhuast paste etc. Spent an hour or so the other night with some rough grade wet and dry and a sanding block trying to flatten flanges and so far with 3 new gaskets in there its still ok (Touch wood)
So my advice is make sure its good before fitting, it's easier to do before they are fitted than keep messing about like i did.

I know the version1 headers had thinner flanges so were badly warped by the welding thus leaks everywhere.
