Default no bulls@*t info please

hi all, pretty new to all this and have only had my 96 uk for about 4 months. i wolud like to ask for some help with which performance mods work and how much power i can really aim for. the car in question is a 96 uk turbo its manual and i have replaced the exhaust system with a decated mongoose unit and fitted an k and n induction kit. now whats the next step. which ecu ugrades work. who do i talk to and who do i not?? at power engineering the car put out 271 bhp at flywheel and 187 @ wheels.

am i wise to try to keep uping power or will the standard transmission and clutch not take it.

any info anyone can give will be a great help thanks
jay.

PFC is a good mod (having seen a couple in action now)

The cheaper alternative is to locate a ScoobyECU chip, although there's considerably less flexibility. (PM/email me, as I may have one or two spare chips...)

That's an impressive BHP level for just a filter and decat. Has it already had the ECU remapped?

63 bhp increase over standard with only an exhaust and filter. Me thinks not.
Must have more mods than that?

as far as i know the car is standard apart from the listed mods, the guy at PE said it was a very good strong car. "which was nice"

don't wanna sound dumb but whats a power fc? and do the scooby chips simply pull out of the ecu circuit boards?

271 BHP I think so

I know of one UK MY95 that made just short of 300 bhp at PE and Tuning Japanese with just a full de-cat and a cone filter

I was there to witness it and have been in the car many times
Merv at PE said he had seen a few early Scoobs push figures like that with minimal mods

Black V5 - As you've not been around that long i'll let you off but I think you'll find that it's not B*ll**** as you so elequently put it

My car is the one in question & on a K&N Induction with a full Scoobymania decat system it ran 297BHP at Tuning Japanese. Just to be sure I ran it a few months later at PE and got exactly the same result.

I can understand why you would be quite reluctant to believe this but the 60 or so people that witnessed it will verify. As Scott said I put a ScoobyECU chip in the car which smoothed out the boost curve a hell of a lot (it was spiking a bit before) and achieved a 311.5BHP figure at Tuning Japanese. The only change that had been made since the first runs was some 18's that increased drag but that's it.

If you need proof ask at either location & just mention "The Green one" They'll remember

Oh & for those who want to see the dyno's please look here:

http://matttrotman846.fotopic.net/c63313.html

They're all dated:

SAS (Tuning Japanese) - 20112001 (20th Nov 2001)
PE - 19012002 (19th Jan 2002)
SAS (Tuning Japanese) - 01022003 (1st February 2003)

Evening mate

No not that long at all fella Scott pointed it out to me

Still can't understand why some people will accuse you of talking b*ll**** without doing the proper research beforehand to establish the facts! I note that they've not replied since being proved wrong

Interesting about the high power of some cars..

I've been in/driven a few imprezas and a friend has a 95 wrx that is really quick for it's mods (noticeably faster than any other I've driven). I did find it had a chip in the ecu, but even after I joined up the J1 jumper on the main board it was still a very strong feeling car.

My mate Toby had an STIV (Think its on the standings list I posted - TBMeech) which was about the same pace as mine and mine had a heck of a lot more mods. He wasn't too impressed LOL
