User tune question for lower octane petrol
I have a MY01 WRX with the following mods
VF34
MRT split fuel rails
550 injectors
walbro pump
MRT tmic
STi scoop
Ecutek Remap with user tune
knock link
oil temp guage
oil pressure guage
iridium plugs
3 inch bosal SPT decat
Currently the car is running 97 octane ulp. Boost is 1.26 bar.
I do not live in the UK. 97 ulp will no longer be available. Only 95 octane petrol will be available.
I have a ecutek USERtune remap and deltadash.
By how much should I pull back boost? I was thinking of pulling back to 1.1 bar.
By how much should I retard the ignition?
Currently the car runs with out any knocking in DD or on the knocklink. However if I fill 95 the knocklink lights up all the way.
We will have 97 leaded available. Should I use this?

Leaded petrol will kill your Lambda sensor, which will make your car run very rich. So that option is out.
Can't help with the mapping bit though, sorry. Only to say that I can't see it being a problem and its better than using NF in the long term as this does 'gum' up more than your injectors.
Dave.

NF deposits an orange coating over everything, but that is no bad thing IMHO, AndyF thinks the surface is then antidetonant.
I would try two degrees per RON for running the same boost. You can always put it in afterwards. Probably a bit of retard and slight drop in boost is best, but in your position with a modified car I would use the NF. Used in the UK to increase 95 to about 97 equivalent it only costs 5-10% of the fuel cost. No troubles with my injectors when I used to use it, but I never had more than 20000 miles on a set of injectors as I was upgrading so much.
