Question Help/Tips With SPA Gauges Fitting

Also posted on 22B.

I need a few pointers before fitting my SPA Gauges;

I have;

(1). SPA Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature gauge.

SPA Pressure Sensor is 1/8 BSP x 12.7mm (will fit 1/8 NPT) thread and scoob block is 1/8 BSP no straight fitting (I am presuming new blocks are the same as I have 2003 JDM Sti).

I quite fancy fitting a T-piece here and keep OEM connection, anyone done this as it is very tight behind the alternator.

SPA GAUGE Temp Sensor 1/8 NPT x 12.7mm or M16 x 1.5 Thread. I will fit this above no.3 cylinder so I need adaptor Lemans part no. LMA067.

(2). SPA Pressure/Temp gauge.

I am going to use the pressure gauge to measure fuel pressure. I am not sure what I need here. The sensor is 1/8 BSP and so I imagine I need this to ‘T’ into the fuel supply somewhere. If I can get the parts I can then take it to a garage to fit (I ain’t cutting up fuel lines lol!). Any pointers on what I need to order?

The temperature side of the gauge I am going to use to measure the temperature after the intercooler. I have a adaptor box and thermo-couple and I think this is straight forward from seeing a pic of Bob Rawle’s installation on his Sti9.

(3). SPA Turbo Boost/EGT.

The turbo boost sensor is 1/8 BSP and so I need some kind of adaptor to ‘T’ into the dump valve hosing. So I would imagine a hose with female 1/8 BSP and I then clamp this onto a ‘T’ which fits into the dump valve hose. But what size ‘T’ piece do I need for the dump valve and what size of hose for connection to the pressure sensor?

For the EGT I have purchased the Thermocouple that SPA provide. Having searched on both 22B and Scoobynet it would appear there have been problems with this. I saw one post which said I should take EGT from the downpipe as fitting in the up-pipe causes a higher failure rate. As long as I am aware it will under read then it is just as consistant. The couple is 1/8 NPT and I have seen various posts whereby people are using the RS Components one which is an M8 Thread. I don’t want to fit one and then find I am swopping to another type of thread as I may as well get it tapped with what I am going to use.

Having seen the wiring and connectors I can see I am going to have fun and plenty of swearing getting it through the grommet, engine bay to drivers footwell Any tips there?

Sorry for the billion and one questions but can’t find the answers through search.

Thanks in advance,

Damian Spencer.

Ozzy,

Yeah, seen your website, very useful some good pics there.

It's the others that I have more issues with.

ah, sorry. would help if I actually read the posts before replying

I'm sure AlanG has fitted more SPA gauges than the usual Oil Temp/Pressure.

Ozzy,

Through searching I have seen AlanG mentioned with regard to SPA Gauges. I also recall Harvey having them in his car.

If I don't get any ideas from here I will try e-mailing/PM them direct to see what they say.

Alan's always helped me out when stuck, but I think he works shifts so he may not respond straightaway.
