Default which Sti filter for MY03 WRX?

Hi, I'm looking to get a panel filter for my WRX. I've read that the Sti ones are good. japanparts.com have 2 different ones (I'm assuming the newer one will fit) but which one should I go for?

The new one:

or
the old one: http://www.japanparts.com/New_web/SU...Ti/0300910.JPG

Cheers,

Graham

Hi Graham, just put an sti filter on my wrx 'cause I thought it the best having read various posts on here, however in the new scooby mag they did a test using the original filter, an sti filter and a green filter, not much between the original and the green, but the sti actually lost power .
cheers paul

Yeah i read that article too, lol. Here we are thinking we getting some serious benefit from a green filter! And to see that the sti one lost power was beyond me.
Until i read that i would have told you to buy a green filter, now i think, is it really worth it?

I'm getting a remap done in November and will have a Blitz NUR Spec R as well. Will the Sti filter not be of benefit then?

cheers

According to the article no, but lots of people on here swear by them. I wont be putting the standard one back on my scoob.

I got an email from a friend who did a power run with the std filter and then with the sti one and the sti one showed some small gains, also most people say the car pulls better and the noise from the filter changes...

I'm going to get one, but should i go for the new one or the old one? They look completely different so I'm not sure.

if you check the pics at the top of the post there are quite clearly two to choose from. The question is which one? someone must be able to make a good judgement? or explain the differences?

Cheers

I get the impression from JapanParts that the "new" one is for '05 on (type E ) and the older one for '02-'04 (type D ??). Not sure why there's a difference though ?
