Exclamation V7 STI (Jspec)

I have a v7 STi J Spec with 6 speed Gbox. good ride and have done 105K. now 4th and 5th Synchro is failing. Can any body help with history of 6speed STi? Are they prone to probs or is this a one off?

The 6 speed box came out in 2000 when they released the 2001 STi's, its a very robust gearbox, capable of high torque and bhp figures (450+ in both).
Ive not known one to fail yet, but you always get one or two that defy the odds
Is the 105k miles or km?
Has the car been modified/tracked/drag stripped???

The early 6 speed boxes have been known to have trouble with their 4/5th syncros...in some cases this has been cured with a change to a different gear oil, in others the box has had to come out for the syncro rings to be changed A search through Drivetrain on this subject should answer this for you

Thanks Tim,is the 4th 5th synchro issue related to the 5th 6th gate issue and how often has this arisen in this box? The box is currently pulled down by local agent under extended warranty and I need toconvincde them that I am not alone
