Question Header tank replacement

Has anyone replaced an early plastic header with a later metal tank.
If so any advice would be appreciated before I start -even if its supposed to be easy and looks like a bracket job.
Many thanks in advance.

I've had a graphite tank fail on me. Was leaking around the chrome seam.
I felt that the origanal tank was a poor design so sourced a new aged forged alloy tank for £50 from Grade A Subaru Breakers, this also included the pipes as well. With the price of a classic alloy tank at well over a hundred pounds the new age tank with the little bit of work will do just fine. Although a bit dirty it soon cleaned up nicely. Sprayed it a satin black.
My cars a STi version2 so the tank didn't bolt straight on. Made up some alloy brackets to pick up the manifold mounts.
A few hours work at the bench with files and hacksaw should see you just fine. At least you can rest assured that an alloy tank won't leak around a dame seam.
As Stockcar says the origanal pipe work plumbs up ok.

Talking Thanks

Thanks for that. Confirms what it looked like - a bit of creative metalwork.
BTW thanks also for the painting thought.
