Default Apexi Power Fc

I finally got round to sourcing one of these a few months ago but then decided to sell the car. So prior to fitting it and going to the expense of mapping decided to sell it. (Enjoy Carl)

Well a few weeks have passed along with my yearning for a new car. I just cant find anything that will tick all the boxes for me without having to outlay an additional £5 or £6k so may just keep what I have.

Basically I'm after another pfc-its for a UK97 (3port ecu). I know someone who has one but has said its for a WRX rather than a UK car and as such does not know whether it is suitable. Do I need to find a pcf specific to the UK models or providing it has the three ports will it just fit ready for an Andy F mapping session?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure they are all for JDM cars, and that you will need to swap cam and crank sensor wires on the ECU connector or engine loom to make it work (simple task).

I would get yourself over to bbs.22b.com where a couple of people (that also post here) post regularly about it's use.

all the power fc's are meant for the JDM STI's, there is only a couple of minor wire changes to get them to work on a uk car

Just got back from Andy's place . Just had a PowerFC fitted and mapped on my MY95 UK Saloon. I am *very* happy with the difference in response, smoothness and acceleration even though I am only running 1Bar boost - the standard boost thingy ma bob would not allow more than 1Bar without the CEL illuminating and boost staying at 0.5bar actual. An Apexi Boost control kit or a manual boost controller will sort that. Andy also noticed my O2 sensor is goosed and the coil packs need replacing .

It is not all bad news though as Andy set the PFC to ignore the O2 sensor for now and jiggled with the ignition timing to sort the slight misfire. I was hoping to have my new MRT TMIC in time for today but it still hasn't arrived. While I am waiting for the TMIC to arrive, I am now going to sort the coil packs and O2 sensor. I'll then travel back to see Andy and have the Apexi boost controller fitted and the map checked and modified to suit.

I am glad I have had the PFC fitted as I was in two minds whether or not to wait for the TMIC. The car wasn't running very well since the fitment of the Walbro and FSE Reg and fuel consumption was poor (I used 3/4 tank of Optimax to travel the 170 miles to Andy's). After mapping, the car is completely different and pulls much harder. Fuel consumption is also much better having used just over 1/2 tank of fuel to get home - result!

Mods so far:

K&N Panel filter
Resonator box removed from under the wing
MRT Inlet Plenum pipe
Revolution 3" DP and System
Walbro and FSE Reg
FPR7B Plugs
Scoobyclinc Clutch
Fidanza 4.2KG Flywheel
Samco I/C hoses
Power FC

A big thanks to Andy, I now feel a lot better knowing my car is running safely. I just can't wait to get back and get it running "properly" .

Glad your happy mate.

Daz - a couple of months ago I looked at paying Andys costs to come to me rather than me getting lost up in Scotland. Works out to be £200.00. He can do two cars in the day so if I deceided to go for the map I'd look to get someone else locally and half this cost which then makes it very reasonable. Dont suppose your a Yorkshire man by any chance......................

what kind ? cut the wires and swap then ? you can just take the connectors out of the ECU plug which makes for a neater install.

I'm still interested in what ppl are doing with their fuel pump connections as it doesnt seem to be able to power mine. In theory swapping it to the JDM position should work, but doesnt

Hi mate what are you aiming for on the 11th? Is it a map with Andng F? i have mine booked in for the 12th but it is £200 for him to come down to the nearest airport, he said if i found another person who wants a map then its £100 each for him to come down. Let me know if you want to have a shared mapping session? Its up to you, let me know. Cheers

Apexi 3port Boost Solenoid Kit
Apexi AVC-r

Dazz, are you flexible with the dates? I need to get my UP pipe changed before the agreed date. Will have a look this evening, if it is slef duable...

Nope....i need a urgent Map at the moment...

Am still saving up for a few other mods before i do that, fmic, injectors and maybe now porting the headers...

Am now kind of rushing it as will be getting married next September, so all needs to be out of the wayt ASAP....

Though Dazz has still not replied: Decided to go for a H&S Up-pipe, ordering this Monday, and will be getting it changed sometime after that, so im easy with the dates for mapping.

Daz, yes its in for a full remap mate. I was in the same boat with the costs and was originally going to get him to map later in the month but then found that he was mapping locally. Thankfully he's agreed to squeeze me in.

Hi Sam,

Yes he's supplying and mapping the pcf on the 11th @ Jap Innovations (not your favouite company I know) then thats it for me......no more splashing out. It will be done before the rolling road day on the 26.11.04 so hope to see some decent results. Previous spec saw 297 bhp (UK97) with standard air box and I think my Firestorm back box wasn't the best. Conditions also slightly hindered the run back in June. Swopped to an induction kit and also now swopped exhausts which immediately seemed to make a difference.

Fingers crossed.......................
