quick! fitting green filter
just fitted a green panel filter to a uk my 99, it was a tight fit but i squeezed it in. now i cant help wondering wether i should cut them rubber lugs off? help please has everyone else left them on or cut them off? cheers

worth taking the whole airbox out and making sure it's a perfect fit. should drop in, not be a squeeze.
I found it a really tight fit when putting my K&N in - I eventually got it in and got the box sealed up again but I was not happy with it just incase it had not made the seal properly. I stripped all the bits of the upper air box cover so I could remove it completly (as mentioned above) - it turned out the filter was sitting properly. It took me half the time to fit the filter by removing the upper cover completly than it did trying to slot it in!
I originally did not cut the rubber lugs off my green filter, and when I had the whole of the airbox out of the car recently for a pug change, I could see a gap between the two plastic pieces of the airbox. Cut them lugs off, and it all fits together much better. I'm not saying it *will* leak if you don't cut the lugs off, but it seems less likely if you do.
5 mins work with a razor blade... gotta be worth it for peace of mind.
