Do mappers work with multiple ECU systems?
I'm considering a remap on my MY98, although I haven't decided what route to go down yet. Having read the forums a lot then particular names come up against certain ECUs (ECUtek, Apexi, etc).
What I'm curious about is are mappers generally comfortable working across different aftermarket systems? I would have thought the most important thing is understanding what can or can't be done to a car of a certain spec, rather than the exact hardware that the map is running on - if you tune a Scoob well do you care what engine management hardware is running?
Is this a fair comment, or am I grossly oversimplifying an arcane and mysterious process? It wouldn't be the first time if I am

That's sounding pretty positive then.
The whole train of thought was sparked off by the fact that the Apexi Power FC and AVC-R look like a good match to my needs. The only issue is that I'm in London and Andy F, the mapper most commonly associated with them, is based in Edinburgh, I think.

Also some mappers have the import rights fairly well secured for their brand of ECU, making it more expensive for their competitors.
