Unhappy Clutch gone in 4k miles

Since getting my Scoob, whenever I've gone out for a spin I'd get that rancid clutch stink when I stopped, even if I had't done any standing starts or abused the clutch. It never felt like it was slipping though. It recently started juddering pretty badly (about 400 miles ago). I had a drive yesterday and now it's definately slipping in 3rd gear and above. My understanding is that it had a clutch fitted about 4000 miles ago by its previous owner. Could there be another explanation other than wear and tear - it doesn't seem like a very long lifespan?

(It's an early RA with decat and a ScoobyECU running 16.5psi. Not sure about the type of clutch that went in.)

could be oil from the crank oil seal leaking onto the clutch plate giving the feeling of a slipping clutch. also would stink a bit

Hmm, hadn't considered that - I'll see if there's any oil on it. Luckily it's not my everyday car so I can have a look and order a new clutch if I need one.

Thanks
