Need to pick your brains - some hesitance on accelleration
MY99 UK - just been serviced last week. The service was the 82.5K service. Has been running sweet until the service - couldn't quite put my finger on what was different - a lack of urgency when accellerating.
Today it has been a little bit intermittant, but there is a definite hesitation on accelleration, most noticeably between 3000-4000 rpm. deffo in 3rd gear.
Sounds like a boost-type problem, but that's where my expertise stops!!!
Idle revs are 600 dead. Any suggestions?
Faulty MAF or other sensor?
It's going into the garage in the morning anyway, but put my mind at rest! PLEASE!!!
Thanks in advance,
Dan

LOL Mike!
Nah - it's been running a bit hesitant since the service - makes me think that while the air filter was being changed, they knocked the MAF..... maybe.....

I'd go for the lambda, when mine was gone it was hesistant at light throttle mainly in the 3/4,000 rpm mark. Flooring it generally didn't show a problem.

only really noticed it when overtaking - again, 3rd gear, foot to the floor.....still accellerates, but almost as if I'm left-foot-braking at the same time.
Lambda (sp!! ) still?

Prolly less likely so, agree with the above, an overfill of oil that's caused your boost solenoid to get blocked.
To clean/check it put the car into mad cow test mode (connect the 2 green connectors under the sterring column and turn the ignition on), the solenoid should click away like a good un, pull off the 2 hoses (3 on older cars) and spray brake or carb cleaner in there whilsts it clicking.

Wouldn't even know where to look!!! Gonna take it into the garage this morning and tell them about the problem, and the suspected cause.
They're as good as gold - family have used the garage for the last 20 years......
Out of interest, can engine damge result from this or not?
