Default what exhaust?

have been reading a recent copy of jp and it said for the least amount of back pressure (if u want big bhp) it was best to use a pipe with 3.5"internal diameter! does anyone know of a decat system with this large internal diameter?

p.s. hi to all from a new guy!!!!

Hi was it the add with the UK300

If so that was my car.It was the APS 3.5" decat system and it is the nuts.
The car is now making 285Bhp and 315lb-ft all with the standard TD04 turbo.
APS TMIC
APS Cold air kit
and a Tek3 remap and a boot controller
The standard boost controller could not react at quick and we was getting over boost as the turbo was spooling up so quick with this system on.

Your probably best sticking to a 2.5 inch system, its better unless you have 400+ bhp, you wont really notice any difference with a 2.5 or a 3.5 inch decat. Also be warned that decatting can cause det and/or overboosting due to the back pressure.

tony, you're not wrong about the over boost, I had a H&S decat system with dawes device etc and the car ran fine, last weekend, I got a decat downpipe, I was on nights last week and was driving my car home at 02:30 in the morning and the car felt like it was on nitrous then all of a sudden, the engine check light came on and the car felt as though the brakes were slammed on, so "limped" home, next day, checked the peak boost figure on the dual turbo timer and it was at 1.37 bar, the same thing happened a couple of days later, this time reading 1.4 bar, so now have taken off the dawes device and seems to be all ok now

Hi Scrappy !! welcome to SN

I'm running 325 BHP (cool day, a bit of NF and on Well lane rollers) with a 2.5" system . on a modded MY02 bugeye....... so lots of choices before going for a HUGE exhaust !!

Have a look at what your local scoobs are up to and take it from there
