What Oil To Use (WR1)

Hi all

ater the 1000 mile service on a WR1 what would be the best oil and make to use and what factor like eg 10/40

I understand Subaru recommend 5W40, but that would be too thin for me. I suspect 10W40 would be a good choice. Stay away from fully synthetic oils until at least 10k miles.

Most people recommend Castrol RS 10w/60 or Motul v300 15w/50.
I got 4 x 4litres of Castrol for £83 from here www.castrolclassicoils.co.uk. It was supposed to be £99 but they seem to have given me 4 for the price of 3 instead
