Now, AFAIK, all STi RAs came with a roof vent, black mirrors, etc (visually identifible items). A guy over on SIDC is selling a silver 94' STi and claims it's an RA but it doesnt have a roof vent or black mirrors...

Can anyone shed light on the matter?

I am 99% sure that not all ra cars had the roof vent! maybe some of them and the limited ones but I am sure all the ra Cars of that age were white only.They did do an sti in silver at that age though so it is more than likely that.

I wonder if there is a chassis code which identifies between the two (STi and STi RA)?

 

if its an ra from 94 it will have this code-gc8b47d
an sti is-gc8b48d

 

There wasnt a 94 STi type RA, the model wasnt released until november 94, making it an MY95 car, this as you have stipulated was in white with roof vent and black mirrors/door handles with mid level spoiler. It also came with the water spray and DCCD, but still has a silver topped engine as its based on a WRX still (but with a higher engine output of 275bhp). Previously to that, there were only WRX type RA's.
