Default Performance (what to go for)

First time at this forum stuf so be kind.

For the last 6 mounths I have owned a MY2000 UK turbo, I have tinkered a little:

Magnex 3" down pipe
Magnex 2.5" center section (fully de-catted)
Custom back box
Ram Air Pannal filter.

My question is where do I go now to get more power?

I have spocken to ABP, they do a upgrade kit for £399 which includes:

HKS fuek cut defencer
HKS Fuel/Air regulator
A manual boost upgrade from 13-14psi to peak at 18 hold 16-17psi
The price includes 4-5 hours of setting up.
(with the mods I already have they recon I should easily see 40bhp)

Has any one had this upgrade? Is it any good?

Any better options?

Cheers
Sam

Sounds reasonable to me .. they cover the fuel cut problem and the leaning out issue with the HKS stuff, and increase the boost too ( although a manual boost control is about £35 quid, look at Dawes Device ). Not sure about the 5 hours of setting up, unless they are mapping it too?

Ask them what they do to prevent detonation and leaning out at the increased boost pressure and how they increase fuel to make it run safe.

Not a bad deal I guess!

I would hope its extra, £400 for -200bhp could be a bit disapointing.

Would you say 40bhp extra is about right?

Red face

Get rid of the ram air panel filter for starters they naff up the MAF sensor, replace with an STi Panel filter which is better (much better ).
Then as everyone has stated, you should go for a tek3, cost around 7-800 plus vat as you need to purchase the licence, after that any other mods will cost you around 400ish to remap
Oh i should add one word of warning, those 5 speed boxes and the standard clutch will possably (depending on how you drive) give you problems the more power you add, ie the clutch will slip and the gearbox will die a painful death, normally over 300bhp/300lbs of torque but it could happen sooner.

Ta for advice, I'm only thinking of increacing the power to 280bhp/280lbs to hopefully stay on the reliable side.

Any where other than Subaru I can get a Sti panel filter?

The Dawes Device is a mecahical spring loaded gadget that fits in place of the boost solenoid, and only allows the wastegate to open on the turbo when your chosen boost has been met. Little or no bleed from early opening ( as can be had with the std system ) and holds steadier.

Slightly fiddly to fit/setup but not much work at all.

Search on Internet or Scoobynet for Dawes Device for more info.

JW Racing do them and their own version.

If I went for the TEK3 would it be advisable to get a Knock link as well, or will all the risk been aliminated (detination)?

Same question but for the ABP mod?
