Default Anyone had headers fitted to MY02 STI ?

Anyone out there had equal length headers fitted to your MY02 STI ?

What can you tell me ?

Did it make a difference ? (pulling low end power??)

Does the noise get altered dramitically ?

Do you need a remap after having them fitted ?

Thanks

There are NO true equal length headers out there on the market that I know of, as far as I'm aware even the HKS ones arent this but dont quote me on that.

Scooby noise is still evident but not as a pronounced as unequal length.

Power wise, turbo usually spools a little later and power is more at top, varies depending on which model you buy.

Any modification that allows an engine to breathe more either in or out needs remapping to make the best of it.

Just fitting headers alone you might not see big gains but as part of a package, inlet mods, headers, remap, bigger turbo it will all come together

Just to note, from the literature I read, turbo's work better with unequal headers as the uneven pulses give the exhaust wheel a good shove.

Gruppe-S seem to be one of the most popular and good value for money at around £450 compared to HKS and others at £800.

Conrad,

In particular I was looking at the headers from Powerstation.

"In an effort to bring Impreza owners the very best in performance for your vehicle whilst keeping the costs down POWERSTATION are please to offer a fully polished stainless steel equal length header! Designed to fit ALL Impreza turbos (WRX/STi) these headers will give around 25lbs/ft of torque across the entire rev range. In 'driving' terms this offers a crisp throttle response, faster pickup, increased smoothness and overall driveability.

Polished Stainless Steel
25 lbs/ft torque increase
More smoothness and drivability
Crisp throttle and faster pickup
Complete with all gaskets

Fits ALL Impreza Turbo's (93-03)

Header £495 + VAT
Fitting £120 + VAT"

I was told that the difference will be noticable straight away, and there would be no need to for a remap immediately. Obviously more gains would be apparent if I had the remap.

What do you think ?

AM I right in thinking that all the new STI's (JDM), Spec C's etc have equal length headers.

Is this what helps them produce the higher torque figures ?
