Default DO I DO IT??? from a 2.0sport---2.5T/Turbo

right first off my engine in my sport has gone bang big time with no compresion at all in no4, when removing the cam cover on the right bank there is small bits of metal everywere so i would say new engine jobby

so do i fork out £1k ish to fix a my00 sport back to std

or do i pay £1.5k to upgrade it to a 2.5tt

<saving me change my car next year as planed to a turbo anyway>

i might have the chance of a compleat 1996 leggacy 2.5 twin turbo with auto box

is this a good idea you comments please..........

also......

if this is do-able can i swop the g/boxs so i puy my sport g/box on the TT engine or will it not take the load ?????????

if the cars ready to handle it with handleing and brakes and stuff, then i would go for it if you can get a 2.5 turbo in there for 1.5k

your going to need more than just the engine, you will need all harness's supporting ecu's and a few other things then when thats all done you will then have to get an engineers report done on the vehicle for to satisfy the insurance co will be cheaper to buy a 2ltr turbo in the long run

If it's just the cam cover with metal in...I'd hold out 'till the bottom end is apart.

It could be a tappet/lifter has broken up and left one of the valves open - thus no compression, or a bent valve. As long as there is no piston contact it maybe just the case of a new or recon cylinder head - Cheaper than a whole engine!

I don't think even people going from a 2 litre Turbo to a 2.5 realise just how much it costs let alone a sport to a 2.5 litre Turbo.

Personally, I'd fit another NA engine and then trade it in for a Turbo model.

I thought it was more of a 4 grand bill than a 1.5k one?
