Question Backbox fitting MY02

Hooray, new Hayward & Scott backbox arrived today.

Have searched but couldn't find:

I know its easy, have all the tools etc. Just wanted a bit of advice whether there is a preferred sequence for trying to detach the existing mounting rubbers and attach the new ones? Attempting to minimise risk of scraped knuckles and time spent lying on back supporting heavy piece of steel with one hand. Is it better to remove exhaust from rubbers leaving them on the car, or remove backbox with rubbers, swap to new exhaust and refit.

What is the best jacking point?

that kind of thing.

It's a piece of p1ss.Leave the rubbers on the exhaust and bring em off the car and fit to new exhaust before offering it upto the car.Before anything else,undo the two bolts that hold the bb to the centre section.I've had mine off my car about 5 times cos the Scoobysport one I had was catching a bit (I cured it by having the hanger removed and re-welded in a slightly different position by somebody at work )
Now it's perfect and sounds the business.The downpipe is what you wanna look at doing to gain some extra power (Makes a massive difference on MY01>)

Thanks, Nick. Was your BB snagging the rear diff? Seems to be a common problem. Have you got the H&S or Janspeed Scoobysport box?

Mine's the H&S one and it was catching the rear diff yeah.As I said,I was fortunate enough to have one of the guys at work remove the rear hanger and reposition it.It's now spot on though!!

Thumbs up Job done.

Pain to get off the middle rubber, but the new box fitted on really easily. No knocking or rubbing, smells a bit though Really nice noise, just what i was looking for.

To make it nice and easy just spray each rubber with WD40. Slips straight off, and back on again with no probs then.
