Which oil should i use for my jap spec sti vesion8 gl ?

Ross, Assuming it's run in, then ANY Top Name brand of 10W40, 10W50, 15W40 15W50 and upwards is fine.

DO NOT use an oil of viscosity 0W or 5W as it is too thin for a Subaru Turbo.

If changing the oil whilst still running in then don't use a fully synthetic just yet better to wait to 3000 miles or maybe 5000 Km's if you are metricated.

PS when changing the oil filter fill it and fill it and then fill it some more before fitting to the engine and make sure oil pressure is up before starting, IE spin it over with the crank or cam sensor disconnected. 10 / 15 secs should do it. The engine will last MUCH longer that way.

The car has around 5k on the clock, Where do i find the crank or cam sensor ?

 

You will find the crank sensor underneath the alternator immediately behind the timing marks on the belt cover. Cam sensor is immediately behind the belt cover at the top of the No.2 head.

BTW, if your car is as new as you're making out, would it be correct to assume you really have an STi9, or maybe even, an STi10? STi8's are bugeyes.
