Wink REAR suspension KNOCK STiO2

Some months ago I experienced the dreaded "Rear End Knock" on my STi02

Having had the Top mount replaced(first step wih dealer) it got even worse it actually felt like I had Thrupenny bits for wheels when takening off or reversing slowly

The dealer last week replaced the Rear Struts I have Prodrive Springs and "No issues" the handling of the car is now TOTALLY transformed

I just wish the front suspesion was as good

i've been told by my dealer on many occasions that they are unable to fix a new topmount to my car as i have the prodrive spring kit.

they also told me that the now official fix for this is a new shock, which i also can't have due to the spring kit!

what dealers do you use Tony? i think i'll need to give them a visit.

Leon,
I was under the same impression as you

You have to do the Top mount mod first to see it it fixes it normally doesn't mine got really bad 2 month's after felt very odd when taking off, partciulary slowly cornering

a) the rear axle was loose or B) had like a "Funny car" oval wheels.

I spoke to the Listers(Worcs) Engineer about my concerns about my Prodrive rear spings.

In the early days there was major SH1TE over this knocking and some Dealers had to resort fitting MY03Sti rear struts & springs as a fix and did IIRC but the top rear mount and spring is diffrent to MY02. Thus caused problems with Peeps with PHP as the car would look like a drag car

IIRC AFAICR IMHO etc.

Everything is now handles much better but reckon the fronts are Fecked aswell

Tony,
Has it cured the bounce, or didn't your car suffer from this?
How many miles has your car done? Mine's done approx 14,000 miles and feels like the dampers are shot.

Steve,
My car has done 19K miles and had no problems till 17K

Then on slow take off and particulary hard lock, felt like wheels were Thrupenny bits or that rear axle was loose and would clunk.

But the car handles much better transformed the rear end handling There is not so much Bounce/sway

it doesnt look like these shocks have a very good life span looks like bad set last 5K and average set 15K miles. I reckon my front's are also shot

Thanks Tony,
I think I'll have to consider Type 25 coil-overs.
