On a run out the other day, I was 5 up in my MY99 turbo over the Cat and Fiddle. After a few corners I realised my passenger side rear wheel was rubbing. Closer inspection revealed it was catching the edge of the arch on right handers. The drivers side is fine. Could this be a goosed shock? Could the alignment be out at the back (don't know how adjustable the rear is). Any other ideas???
The car has done 70000miles and I suspect the stock sussies are a bit tired. This might be time to upgrade a bit.
I'd be interested to know what everyone thinks. The odd thing is the drivers side is fine and looks to have more clearance.
Cheers,
Pete

I have just changed MY00 suspension at 70,000 as it was a bit soft.
I already had eibachs on but have now added KYB Adjustables, new top mounts, drop links and poly bushes.
The KYBs are a good replacement shock as they are adjustable. Softly softly for the wifey and kiddies and nice and firm for me round the twisties.
Really pleased with it, on the lowest setting its nice and smooth, but still sticks to the road.
Hope this helps

Pete, had the same happen in my MY98 at 100,000 miles, sounds like the damper has worn out. You'll need to change or rebuild all four, and you might want to think about the springs as well while you're at it.

Cheers for the replies. They conform what I thought. Its getting serviced next Tuesday so I'm going to get them to check all the suspension, bushes etc. Once i've found out what exactly is up i'll decide where to go.
I looked at KYB adjustables and Eibachs. The thing is that once that lot adds up you're not fat off coilover money. After the stuff i've read about the AST gear on the Type 25 i'm seriously considering going for them. Not sure about low speed compliance and bumpy b and c roads though.

I have the same symptoms and my MY99 is on 90k.
Two dealers have told me that the shocks are ok but I still get the
passenger side arch rubbing when cornering with rear passengers.
Mad Scientist, I would be interested to know what your dealer said and if you have now resolved the problem. Grateful if you could mail or reply to me.
Thanks.
