What would happen if rear springs fitted upside down?
A mate who has an M reg Impreza said he can hear a knocking from the rear suspension. On looking at his and comparing with mine it looks like the LHS rear spring has been fitted upside down. He thinks this is also the side of the knock.
Could this knock be down to the spring? He's had the car for about 12 months and this has only just been noticed and the knock only just started.
Any help.

yes it could lead to the knocking he's hearing.
It's easy to get the springs on upside down... (he says from experience )
Best get it put right ASAP - it's not that difficult to do, but it does mean removing the rear seats.
