OH YES
Just a little improvement on the rolling road today, added 10bhp and 10+lbs of torque
Shows you how much better they are than the standard item (except they probably cost considerably more
)
Should you buy one?
Yup

ByByR1 - I wouldn't recommend the ITG filter. There have been many reports of MAF failure due to its excessive oilyness. K&N seem OK and the one I have which is the JR Racing.

Corradoboy,
Not sure about the gains you will get from the JR racing filter, mine was done whilst the car was on a Rolling Road so comparison was from the standard filter to this one.
ByByR1, you have to becareful of what you add to your Type UK to keep the warranty, the STI filter is an official part (in Japan) but you would have to ask your dealer if it affects your warranty in any way, for me it was good with 10bhp and around 15lbs of torque increase

Excellent then.. was looking at them a while back, did you get it from japanparts or similar, or somewhere over here? remember thinking were kinda expensive for a disposable filter here. May be I will get one after all... that is after I find out why me fuel pump has decided to make funny noises 2day :-(
Playing Devil’s Advocate here...
Tony... Have you got any proof of these claims. Like before and after readings? presumably you have read outs that show this?
You say the torque was up by “around” 15lb ft... Around ?? it either is or isn’t ??
I’m also interested in this filter, as is a mate of mine, but this claim is very high for a “replacement panel filter”. Fanatastic if it is, but would like to see some proof of these claims.

As jas03wrx says, can we have some proof of the power gains before I go and waist £50 on a filter and find no difference at all.
Cheers.
TonyBurns, what sort of filter did you use and do I need a rolling road to get the power gains after fitting the filter?

It should be pointed out that the filter Tony used is the new, Spec C twin scroll JDM panel filter with nitrided frame. The "normal" STi panel filter available in the UK doesn't have any of these fancy buzzwords and thus may not produce the power and torque gains Tony found.

thats great, but I'd still like to see the before and after results even if it is the new Spec C Twin Scroll JDM Panel Filter with Nitrided Frame
Where do we get one from and how much ?

Too get the extra power you need more air, and a panel filter surely cant ”Force” air through. So without air being ”Forced” through where is the extra 10BHP coming from ??

I don't know why Tony hasn't replied, but we had a RR day at Prosport on Sunday and Tony did a run with the std and then with the STi panel filter which is where his results came from.

The car did 2 runs before the filter was fitted at ProSport last sunday, both showed mid to high 280's, the filter was then changed on the rolling road and the next 2 runs done after that, the power increase from the highest first 2 runs was 288bhp and 297lbs of torque, after the car ran 298.8bhp and 312lbs of torque, this was within 2 mins of eachother on a hot day (70 deg), the car also made a first run after the filter was fitted of 300.1bhp and 309lbs of torque, i feel that the significant increase and the slightly louder roar is due to the STi panel filter and not the cr@ppy orange thing that was in there to start with
make your own minds up, 5 mins on the rollers, over 10bhp increase and over 10lbs of torque after fitting.

I've got one on order from Japanparts to replace my ITG filter (which incidently, has been fitted for 50K miles with no problems). Very good, efficient service and should cost just over £40 at current exchange rates, delivered to my door
