Unhappy Relocating lambda sensor

Hi all
Am having serious problems with my car since fitting my new down pipe. I have a 1993 wrx saloon running with a 1995 wrx RA ecu and the check engine light comes on and the car starts to run very badly.
So, i was wondering if it would make a differance if i moved the lambda sensor from the headers to the exhaust, it it would stop this problem?
The only reason i say this is because im not sure where the sensor is on a 1995 car as i have a 95 ECU fitted. Do the 95 cars have the sensor in the exhaust?

What other mods do you have? Downpipe alone on a standard car will not do anything except increase overboost a psi or so on spoolup.

Thanks for the reply Pavlo

In total my car has

1995 wrx RA ecu
Pipercross induction kit
Magnex twin dump down pipe (the one in question)
Magnex centre decat
Ninja 5 inch back box
optimax on millers ob.
Boost gauge

Thats all i can think of. All the above were on before the down pipe was fitted.

At a guess I am thinking you have boost creep, and your boost is staying high, causing detonation which triggers check engine light followed by safe mode which means much less ignition advance and 8psi of boost.

Sound about right?

Im not sure. When i went out in it yesterday, the light came on and as i went onto the fast bit of road i opened it up and still went ok, not great but boost was way over 8 psi. What is turbo creap and why has it shown its ugly face now and not before. What can i do to combat this?
Also found out that the speedo cable had been disconnected. Will this have anything to do with it?

Thanks Pavlo

without the speedo connected it is limited by the ecu, reconnect and try again.

You need to connect your speedo cable as said below my cars engine light came on and it cuts out when boosting to protect it.Re-connect cable and disconnect battery for approx twenty minutes to reset ecu, hope this helps mate

Talking SORTED!!

Thanks everyone!!
I no it sounds stupid, but the Doreens dad was fitting an alarm yesterday and was putting wires in behind the dash and i thought that he may have disconnected it which would have been after i pick the new decatted car up!
But what looks like has happened is that they must have caught the speedo cable and pulled it out by accident when removing the old pipe.
So never mind. Thanks everyone. Its a good thing this scooby net aint it!
What a differance the pipe makes!! A bit tinny but will wrap the pipe soon, was told it would get rid of that
