Default Door Card Rattle

Hi Just installed some infinity 6000cs speakers in my front doors. My head unit is a pioneer deh-p77mp. The problem is that my door cards are vibrating when at high volumes or particulary bassey tracks. Any "cheap" way to stop this. The passenger side is worse than the drivers side. I heard foam is a good way but where is the best place to put it and what thickness?
Cheers

Sure there is a fix on this forum somewhere , i've seen this problem before on here. I think you have to put small bits of foam behind the card where it touches the metal/moisture barrier so that the card is actually cusioned by the foam and does not rattle. Have s search around the forum for 'door card rattles' you may get an answer, i'm certain that someone posted pics on here.

You need to check if it is the door card or more likely the plastic sheet getting sucked & blown (oooerr missus) from the inside of the door. Either way foam will do the job and you can use gaffer tape to secure the plastic sheet where it is loose.

Also check the door lock & window mechanism for areas that can touch.

I guess its sponge-like. The kind of stuff used in cheap furniture.

Default Door Card Rattle

I fitted some infinity Kappa's in the front and found that at certain low frequencies the door cards started to rattle.
Went back to garage and he told me it would be the polythene vibrating, I said that was a load of bollocks to which he took the door cards off and put his hand on different parts of the polythene and sure enough it went away.
He then stuck duct tape across the polythene to add some rigidity and believe it or not it worked.

I was suffering from the deaded rattles on anything with bass but today put blu-tack behind every trim popper on the door card and a small bit of foam behind the door lock bars. Seems to have done the trick so far. I used a half sheet of original Dynamat on the inside of each door too and it's given quite an improvement even with the original crappy sti addzest speakers.

I'm tempted by the pioneer 77 unit too. Will it fit in the Sti double din slot without hacking anything around?

eric, the pioneer will fit inot the din slot, but you will need to get some sort of blanking plate (or DSP) to fill the other din space. otherwise, the HU will flap around up wards and downwards slightly...

Thanks. So I'd just need the din sized pocket (mentioned elsewhere on the bbs), similar cd holder whatnot or another din sized unit to fill the hole underneath?

yup!

halfords to these universal din pockets for about £15. just bung one of them in the empty slot.

when you say "or another din sized unit", that doesnt nessacarily mean you can a dd a CD player in one and then a Casstete palyer in the other. you will need to ISO power sources for that though you could get the one-into-two ISO apadtor...

Getting a DSP (Digital Sound Processor) which is essentially an electronic graphic equaliser will work however, as these usually have an ISO input and an ISO output for you to connect your HU to it. and it means you can fine tune your setting a lot more prescisely
