Hi Guys,

I have just bought a STI 8 backbox and centre section, now I am not very sure about exhaust systems but do I need to modify anything else before I change over the systems like ECU??

Also what sort of power gains would you get, I know it wouldn't be much but just curious

 

Eh? What exactly have you bought, the backbox and centre section from an MY02 STi Type UK, an MY03 STi Type UK, or a Japanese market MY02 or MY03 car?

You've not really given us enough information to answer that question, but in general terms you won't have to do anything else if all you're changing is the mid and backbox.

Again, that would largely depend on what you have at the moment, and you haven't told us. In an ideal world you'd be lucky to get more than 5-6bhp from a backbox and mid section change, even assuming that you were replacing very restrictive components with very un-restrictive ones.

personally i would guess you will gain nothing, the 03sti exhaust is really quiet, not sure if the wrx has a cat in it? and if you have taken it from a type uk then u will have a cat in the new one too, the only thing you might gain was if you use the my03 jdm stil centre section with only a resonator and no cat

 

Doh, why didn't you say that in the first place?

As Jason says, you'd be unlikely to notice any difference as a result of this change.
