Blown WRX STI Type RA Engine
Hi All
I have had a problem with my Engine where a big-end bolt failure has resulted in the conrod coming through top of the block. The engine was running unmodified apart from a straight through stainless system. It was running optimax and monitored by a boost gauge, no Knock link.
I am assuming the engine will need complete replacement.
Looking for close to standard set up, but with sensible upgrades to enable more power later, nothing mad, maybe to 350Bhp.
Does anyone have any POSITIVE recommendations of people to speak to or use for a replacement engine?

Do you want a standard replacement motor or something uprated to take silly power along with all the trimmings?
What year is it and what if any modifications?
What fuel is used and do you have a knocklink?

I bought my Type-r with a replacement engine by API (arranged by the dealer)
Being naturally suspicious, I phoned them to make sure everything was as it should be, and the dealer hadn't made any short cuts (armed with the multitude of tips gleaned from here
)
They were very helpful and knowledgable, and even faxed me some very good running in and oilchange guidelines.
Nearly 4000 miles in, and everythings good so far!
