Default CEL FIX INSTRUCTIONS AFTER FULL DECAT

Hi, I have looked for details (unable to search on this site at the mo..)
Can someone explain (in simple terms) how to apply this fix & what is required.

I understand there is a resistor involved.. where do I put it...

THis is an old one for some but please take my pain away..

Thanks in advance

Scoobysport, TSL, MRT and others have some clever elextronic fix with fitting instructions that really works, otherwise go for the resistor mod BUT it may drops you a PO420 CEL instead from time to time and you need ECU reset in this case.
You need 1 MOhm resistor if you own a MY03-04 car or 1 MOhm resistor and 1 μF tantalum capacitor if you own a MY01-02 car.
With one battery terminal off cut the blue wire from your rear O2 sensor and solder the resistor, in second case (MY01-02) solder the 1M Ohm (that's 1,000,000 Ohms) and the 1uF (micro-farad) capacitor together in parallel, cut the blue and white wires from the rear O2 sensor and solder your two components onto the blue and white wires, DONE!
Good luck!

Thanks, sorry should have mentioned MY98 STi Type R - is this the same fix ?

Confused - I have a lambda sender in the uppip but have what appears to be another sender taped up - EGT / Cat temp - uncertain - which part gets the fix?

Thanks

I was told my problem may have been a 'celfix' problem - maybe not then - simply the engine warning light appears after full decat - when diags are run suggests the oxygen sensor at fault... is this the same fix ... ahhhrrrggg

After some searching...

MRT Downpipe Check Engine Light Fix

Sounds exactly the same as my MY98 Classic problem....

"The manufacturers have realised that most of us like to decat our turbo cars, which is bad for the environment and very naughty. So to spoil our fun, they have made it so that if the downpipe is replaced for one without a catalyst, the ECU gets to know about it via a sensor in the exhaust and it brings on the Check Engine Light. This is only a problem with Imprezas from MY01 On. However, there is a simple electronic fix that can allow the car to be decatted without the CEL coming on. It is simple to fit and inexpensive and will allow you to unleash a fair amount of horses from the flat four lump by using a good quality downpipe."

Mate, if you're getting a cel show up, and an o2 cause, then you're lambda's knackered!!!!!!!!
classics do not need a 'fix'!!

Ok, lambda could be cause - any light on the other smaller probe currently tied back? - Smaller in diameter to the lambda probe

Meter put across lambda & looks ok but will try swapping out.

Does the CEL come on under any specific conditions, or is on as soon as you start up?

Sorry, can't help with your problem, but a mate's having similar probs in his MY00 and so I'm curious. His only comes on at 4,500 rpm in 5th.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks slowboy... spoke to many people now & much assistance from the forum

In my case it is likely to be the lamda probe is at fault as there is no CELFIX for Classics

Going to swap out and see... diags pointing to the 02 sensor / Lamda so good bet!

Cheers
