Default Digital Phones advice

As our 5 year old Philips items have packed up i'm in the market for some new ones.
What does anyone recommend. Cheap and light is good with two handsets.
........Or is it the case that they are all give or take the same?

I use the Bt diverse system, its very good although the handsets are not the smallest - good range as well.

We got the pair on offer in Dixons at £49.99, BT ones, pretty good, handsets small enough to be nice, but big enough not to lose!
