Thumbs up

I found it easier to take the Intercooler off on a JDM car as the IC spray resevoir is also in the way when running the wires through the grommet. However you can just undo the bolts holding the Intercooler in position and lift it slightly out of the way.

This is the location under the intercooler you want to bolt the Knock Sensor to. Pic taken from my old WRX but the holes are the same on the STi block.

On the MY02STi Type UK you can reach the threaded hole on the block by reaching down beside the right hand side of the intercooler. There is no need to remove the intercooler or loosen any bolts.
