Question

I'd just like a bit of advice!
My96 STi3 Wagon hit 290bhp + 270 ft/pds on the rr at Eclipse on Sat.(Blitz induction + octane booster + possibly Optimax)
Which system should I go for to crack 300bhp?
Please consider the fact that I do 20,000 miles + per annum, and dont want to wear earmuffs!!!!
All ideas considered, what you got, & what you get?

Would a part system suffice?

Scoobysport Downpipe for 10BHP (or Magnex cos its cheaper)
Mid section (with a resonator) probably a couple of BHP
Keep your existing STI backbox to keep the noise down..................

Eh Voila 300BHP and a little increase in noise..........

then you can take it to an acurate RR and your back to square 1. LOL

Does it really matter? What matters most is that it's drivable torque rather than power hitting 300BHP.

John (300Lb/ft torque in limp home mode )

John (F),
I was at the rolling road when John's car was done, there was also a my00 with SS backbox only, he had 221bhp, so if that ain't accurate I dunno what is!!!!!!!!!!1
John & Nicci, go for the scoobysport on, but maybe with a resonator in the centre section to keep the neighbours quiet! I got 25bhp gain just from a downpip and backbox on my my00 on saturday, so seeing a syour startiong with 290 you should easy crack the 300 barrier!

£80k is a lot to spend on a rr that doesn't give a true reading. Do you know something we don't about eclipse??

Wink

John,

Mine had the full Magnex and the big HP gain, also it's quite quiet on the inside. Give me a shout if you want a trial run. The Green scoob (mod) had the ear splitting SS system.

What John is going on about is Torque!!
Having lots of bhp and sod all torque means your car has to work its ar$e off to do any work and even though with exhaust systems the torque is only avialable up the top end and not down low/mid range where you need it.
With 290bhp and 271lbs of torque (hopefully in the middle of the power band ) your car will probably be more drivable than one with 300bhp and a change in torque further up the band...
The point is..... More Torque Please sod the BHP

Tony (whos outpaced a wrx MY99 with his lowly uk PPP'd car due to a better midrange power band (250lbs of torque))

Replied like this as John&Nicci asked what exhaust would get to 300BHP..........

However.... torque I would agree is more important and a downpipe would increase this considerably aswell.......

As a precaution I would also talk to someone more technical about the combined effects to your car i.e fuelling etc

Cool

Ok Ok,
Ill just go for the downpipe then.
Seems that will give me a bit of an increase on bhp & torque!

Revolution (Gateshead) are claiming "most powerfull system on the market" with dp giving 30-40 bhp and loads of torque. Tested on an STi 11 (standard 267bhp) with this exhaust was 300+ bhp. Graphs available at store.
Thinking about fitting to my 94 WRX.
