Come on guys, Ford won fair and square. Team orders were imposed before the start of day three with McRae leading and Sainz second and Kankunnen about a month behind.
McRae subsequently backed off to follow team orders of not racing each other, Sainz went quicker and thus 'accidentally' overtook Colin. Sainz then did the gentlemqanly thing and pulled over 50 mtrs from end of last stage to allow CM to take victory.
I don't think this is quite the same as Coulthard/hakinen but hey that professional sponsor driven motorsport for you.
