Who's running Boost and Fuel controllers
Lookking into how to up the power on my UK99, and instead of the ECU route (a la MoTec, Link etc), I was thinking of going for Apexi units.
I know that once you add all the bits up and have fitted you are into the same sort of price category as a new ECU, but I think the beauty is that it can be done in stages.
I've done a search, and can't find much info from people actually using these.
So, is anyone out there using them, or does anyone have experience of them?
Cheers
Matt

Craig, are you just running these, or have you got other mods (excluding decatted exhaust - which I've got)?, also be interested to know what filter/induction you've got.
What model car have you got?

Have got a few other mods, turbo, fmic and a couple of other things....
Am using an APS Cod Air induction kit - utilising a K&N cone - it places the cone in the inner wing.
Have had quite good results with the setup.

DP did mine as well.
Very happy with it. Running 1.3 bar with a TD05 (I think)
Haven't put it on a rolling road but its certainly way different to a "standard" UK model.

Thanks for the responses guys.
As far as I can see there appears to be no downside to them at all, especially as you can take them off should you wish to.
Also good to hear that they can be used in conjunction with a similar set up as mine.
Unless I am missing something obvious they appear to be a very real altenrative to a replacement ECU - i.e. cheaper than most and just as big an improvement - or am I missing the point??

These are an alternative to replacement ECUs and can give good results, but they're not quite as refined as a proper ECU replacement.
You can feel the steps in boost as Revs rise for instance - and if you like to play they can be very dangerous
Steve,
The boost controller does purely that - you can buy a fuel controller which works alongside and also the same with the ignition controller.
It can work out expensive, but you can do it in stages - I think the cost of all 3 is similar to a mapped Link with knocklink etc.
I'll play with mine for a few more months then replace it with a "proper" ECU and see what additional benefits (if any) I get.
