Question

Do they all crunch into 5th ? I have only driven 3 of them and they all crunched when giving it some, the last one only had 22k miles on it

I think the type r 5th gear has smaller synchro rings than UK box, maybe this has something to do with it?

Mine crunches when going from 3rd to 4th, when driving hard

Might change the gear oil to see if that may help - syntrax or something!

Probably not!! Only done around 30K

Mine does this when pushing hard and moving in to 5th as well, Glenn at Revolution told me this was common amongst V5 Type R's and to take it easy

Mine does this when driving hard and making very quick gear changes - if I change gently/smoothly it's fine

Funny enough mine does the exact same 4th to 5th. Only does it when at high revs or a quick change aswell. Am going to maybe get the oil changed in my next service and see if that does anything.

Hear from me soon?
Steve.

Nice to hear, your cars up and running SBTR.

They don't all crunch (or shouldn't)...
Thou yeah it seems a common problem and is often there from new, probably a manufacturing thing, though I think they tried to blame the running in process (alot of 5th cos of the short ratios). New 5th gear and synchro fixes it...
