mileage on import b4 rsk

i've just brought an import legacy with 58000 on the clock. is that still km or can the digital display b changed to miles.

like to no because of timing belt and servicing.

those will be km - the conversion for sva is done using a box in between ecu and dash to convert the electronic signal - there is no re-calibration of speedo or any adjustment made to odometer reading -
you might want to keep some documentary evidence (like service receipt with date on it)of current mileage - so that when you come to sell the new buyer can know what proportion was km and what was miles - ie 80000 on the clock would be better as 30k miles and 50 k km rather than vice versa!

If you have bought a 99 car I would advise doing the cambelt change for peace of mind anyway - regardless of the miles
