Hello,

I swapped my standard re-circ valve for a nice shiny new one from Forge. I am an engineer and have owned several turbo cars before so I know a thing or two and certainly know how to fit a DV. Problem is the valve makes no noise and I can now hear a chirping noise which I think is the compressor stalling. I have tried all three springs supplied with the valve but all are pretty similar. Also double checked the vacuum hose for leaks. Is this a common problem with DV on Subarus or do I have a faulty valve or worse ?

Thanks.

Sounds like the valve might be the wrong way around..

Em, no. It's pretty hard to fit an atmospheric valve the wrong way around. Should of mentioned that it was a VTA.

Anybody ?

Red or Blue spring inside it? If it's red it's too stiff for your car, you'll have to rev high to get it to 'dump'. The blue spring is slightly softer and you'll get the dump easier.

Should be able to get a blue spring from Forge directly if you explain your problem.

Cool

Hi m8,
I have a forge vta on a MY00, the valve does not make any/much noise while driving steady, but hisses nicely once you start to open it up a bit.
Hope this helps.

recently fitted mine[i got the deulux 1 with a filter on it and a spring kit]im having trouble at the mo as A.its got the red spring in it and it dosent kmake any noise B.i think it is getting stuck every now and then as i get a knock spike on my knocklink when i let off the pedal at WOT which is a sign its not closeing properly[only get this in second after extreme ecceleration...and then oly sometimes]gona take it apart tomorow and have a look.
aparently the ones with the filter are significantly quieter than the normal ones..i think blue spring is ok 4 impreza but might need shimms[suplied in the spring kit]as it gets tired.

Why would you want it to make a noise anyway? It's a bit "Max Power"!

lol.. so it only me in a rush to put the car back together that does that then..

Just for reference with standard intercooler and ecu I found blue spring perfect with one shim.. now with FMIC and Link ECU I need red spring and one shim.

What colour are the springs provided?

Only other reason would be the vac line not connected like you say..
